A lovely day at Maitland Regional Museum, at Brough House, for their Let Them Eat Cake Party. Thanks to Professor Philip Dwyer, Director of the University of Newcastle’s Centre for the History of Violence, for his speech about Maitland’s Napoleonic connections. Jessica Coughlan made this great video of the event: enjoy!
Tickets are currently on sale for the Museum’s annual fundraiser at Blackbird Artisan Bakery, on Friday 25th August, 2017. Professor Dwyer, author of an award winning biography of Napoleon, will be giving a talk titled ‘The Life and Death of Marie Antoinette’. Needless to say, I’m planning a Very Special Hat for this event.
